New patients

Your first visit as a new patient, step by step

No surprises and no rush. Here’s exactly what happens, what to bring, and how costs and insurance work.

At your first appointment

Four things happen, always in this order

  1. Step 1

    A proper conversation

Your history, any worries, and what you’d like from your teeth. If you’re nervous, this is where we agree how to make it easier.

  2. Step 2

    A full, gentle exam

Teeth, gums, bite, and the soft tissues of your mouth. X-rays only if we need them, and we’ll tell you why.

  3. Step 3

    A clean, if it suits

Most people have their first clean the same day. If you’d rather take it one step at a time, that’s fine too.

  4. Step 4

    A clear plan

What’s healthy, what needs attention, and the options with costs. You leave with it in writing and decide in your own time.

Before you come

What to bring

  • A photo ID
  • Your insurance card, if you have one
  • A list of any medications you take
  • Your completed new patient forms (or arrive ten minutes early to fill them in)

New patient forms

Filling these in at home saves time on the day. They cover your contact details, medical history, and consent.

Insurance and payment

Clear costs, whatever your cover

We’ll check your coverage with you before your visit if you like, and you always get the cost of any treatment before it starts.

Questions

What new patients usually ask

Anything else? Call [PHONE] and ask. There’s no such thing as a silly question here.

I haven’t been to a dentist in years. Will I be judged?

No. A long gap is more common than you’d think, and the only thing we care about is where you go from here. We’ll look, explain what we see, and help you decide what to do first.

I get very anxious. What can you do to help?

Tell us when you book, or at any point during your visit. We’ll explain each step before we start, agree a signal you can use to pause, and take breaks whenever you need them. You’re always in charge of the pace.

How long is a first appointment?

[APPOINTMENT LENGTH]. It’s a little longer than a routine checkup, so there’s time to talk, ask questions, and get to know you.

Do you take my insurance?

We work with [INSURANCE ACCEPTED]. If you’re not sure about your plan, call us before your visit and we’ll check your coverage with you.

What if I don’t have insurance?

You’re very welcome. We’ll give you the cost of any treatment before it starts, and we offer [PAYMENT OPTIONS].

Can I bring my children to the same appointment?

Yes. Families can book back-to-back visits so everyone is seen in one trip. Mention it when you book and we’ll line the times up.
